How To Get Your Next 3-5 Clients In Today's Creator Economy

How To Get Your Next 3-5 Clients In Today's Creator Economy
The New Golden Age of Social Media is here.

In today's Creator Economy, there is no better way to market and promote your products and services than through Content Marketing.

Thanks to the rise of TikTok, the organic reach on all social media platforms are at an all time as – as all these companies continue to compete to keep creators on their platform.

Factor that in with Ad prices being at an all time and traditional marketing on a sharp decline.

You have the perfect formula for the New Golden Age of Social Media.

So how does one capitalize on this opportunity?

How would you be able to maximize this time to be able to attract more clients, build your brand, and grow your business?

Well in this post, I am going to show you how I've manage to leverage Content Marketing and Social to grow my business to multiple 6-figures

And how I've helped my clients to close their first few coaching and consulting clients for $3k, $5k, even $10+.

... all without needing a website, funnel, or fancy certifications.

Let's Begin!

Content: The Price of Admission of "The New Rich"

Content x Social = Audience

Content is simply any form of media you publish online (video, reels, blog, YouTube, TikTok).

And content serves two core purposes as you build out your business and brand.

1) Content Helps Promote Who You Are and Who You Can Help

As a new business owner, no one will know who you are or what you do.

It is up to you to market yourself and let people be aware of your service

There is a reason why when you get a college degree or certification – there isn't a line of people waiting to give you a job or buy from you.

Its a just a piece of paper. It doesn't mean anything.

The greatest social proof isn't client results – but your own personal experience

and the best way to demonstrate and share your personal experiences is through content

We often tend to serve clients who are past versions of ourselves. The reason you are a fitness coach is that you know what it's like to be skinny or fat and transform that.

The reason why you are a relationship coach is that you've had shitty relationships in the past and discovered something that allowed you to have your dream relationship.

Your personal transformation and experiences serve as the ultimate social proof. This is because people tend to buy from others who are just a few steps ahead of them.

If you were looking to make $10k/month as a coach, consultant, or creator by chance, you probably wouldn't go to Tony Robbins or Mr. Beast because they are too far ahead of you.

You would rather go to someone who is just a few steps ahead, but you can see that being possible for you.

So the more you share about your own personal transformation and experiences, the more people you will attract with similar experiences (aka past versions of yourselves).

This makes it easy for you to relate to them (since you lived through it) and easier for them to trust and buy from you.

Talk about your story.

Talk about your accomplishments.

Talk about your mistakes, failures, and setbacks.

The more you share about yourself, the more others can relate to and want to buy from you.

2) Content Gives You Leverage

The concept of permissionless leverage is simple: You build it once, and it works forever.

And content creation is the ultimate form of permissionless leverage.

Content acts like digital real estate for you, your business, and your brand.

You can create a piece of content once, and it will work for you 24/7 while you sleep.

For example, it might take you an hour to create a video around your passion, interest, or expertise.

But this one video can be seen by 100, 1,000, 10,000, 100k, even 1M+ people over time.

This one video will:

  • Attract new followers and leads to your business
  • Nurture your current audience and pre-existing leads
  • Pre-sell those who are interested in your service before you even hop on the phone with them.

And the more content you produce, the more it compounds on itself.

It is a compounding vehicle that multiplies itself over and over again.

But content by itself has no leverage.

It is DISTRIBUTED CONTENT.

If you create a post, blog, or video and it just stays on your computer, that content has no leverage. It's just pixels on a screen with little to no value.

That's where the next piece of the equation comes in: Social Media

Social Media: The Message Broadcaster

Once you have created content, the next step is to broadcast it to the world. It's safe to say social media runs the world.

You Ivy League experts from Harvard working hard to keep you on the app for as long as possible.

Therefore, you must learn the rules Rules and Algorithms of each platform in order to grow properly.

We don't have time to go over every single platform today, but what I do want is to help you choose the right platform for you.

Don't choose the one with the most reach, choose the one that is right for you.

Writing: Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook

Long-Form Video: YouTube, Podcasting

Short-Form: TikTok, IG, YouTube Shorts

Social media platforms prioritize creators who are able to produce highly valuable content consistently.

So the more you post, the more the algorithm will favor you – leading to more attention, sales, and partnerships.

More Content = More Impressions = More Attention = More Opportunities

Your goal here is to Post Consistently on ONE PLATFORM.

Choose one to start and once you master it, branch out.

And while it's nice to see the number of views, likes, and comments go up on your posts.

The REAL value of creating content and a brand comes from the byproduct of the content.

There is only one future-proof asset in business that allows you to create longevity regardless of any recession or pandemic.

And that asset is –  An audience.

Audience: The Only Asset to Future-Proof Your Business

Content x Social = Audience
To be a successful creator you don’t need millions. You don’t need millions of dollars or millions of customers, millions of clients or millions of fans. To make a living as a craftsperson, photographer, musician, designer, author, animator, app maker, entrepreneur, or inventor you need only thousands of true fans. – Kevin Kelly

Producing content is not the output, it is the input. The whole purpose of content is to produce an audience and grow your brand in the process.

The audience, and your brand, are what compound overtime.

And like Kevin Kelly said, you don't need a large audience to generate business and sales.

All you really need is 1000 true fans to follow and support you.

It took me a VERY long time to get into the short-form content game.

I hate doing something once and having it get buried and forgotten 24 hours later.

I didn't like the idea of investing my time into creating something that isn't evergreen (long-form, training, articles)

But all of this changed once I realized that content is not the output, but the input.

Content isn't the end goal, it is the price of admission. And the real prize is the audience I build as a result of the content.

Since then, I have shifted my goals to becoming a master of media. I believe it is the ultimate vehicle for long-term growth and stickiness with minimal work (thus creating massive leverage).

If I get even just one more person to see this short video or post, and it changes their perspective and makes them follow me, that is worth it for me.

Because that one person can tell 5 friends, which tell another 10 friends, which tell another 100 friends, etc.

You may never know who is watching or reading your content, and who they will share it with given that it is valuable to them.

So don't stray away from building an audience one follower/subscriber/viewer at a time.

sons to Build an Audience in Today's Digital Age// How does it Future-Proof Your Business

1) Your Audience Will Buy From You Today, Tomorrow, and In The Future.

People tend to buy from others that they know, like, and trust.

But not everyone in your audience will be waiting to buy from your first post.

Studies show that only around 10% of your audience will be ready to buy today, and the other 90% will be ready to buy some time in the future.

Therefore, content marketing and audience building serve a dual purpose.

It allows you to create demand and interest for the 10% of people who are ready to buy today while nurturing the other 90% to get them ready to buy in the future.

As you start posting content and building your brand and audience, they will start to trust you more and be more likely to buy from you.

The longer someone is following you, your journey, and your content – the more they seem to know, like, and trust you.

Therefore, whenever they are ready to purchase a solution to their problem, they immediately go to you first thanks to the relationship you have pre-established with them through your content.

2) Your Audience Will Promote and Refer Your Business

I have a friend who is a die-hard Lululemon fan girl.

She only wears Lulu and tells all of her friends about great the quality is in comparison to other brands (me included).

I don't anything from Lulu. But as the months went by and I kept hearing her blab about how great Lulu is and the material and the non-wrinkle blah blah blah –  the more the idea started to grow on me.

Until one day, she let me borrow her Lulu fanny pack for a concert, and I was finally sold.

I went out and bought the same Lululemon fanny pack the next day.

This is an example of your audience can turn into raving fans and promoting your business and product for you (given you have a good Offer and service).

It's not like my friend works at Lulu or gets a commission for every sale. She is just a lover of the product and brand.

She loves it so much that she promotes it to all of her friends, free of charge.

As your audience becomes buyers, and you provide them with the results you promised, the same effects happen to you.

People will talk about, promote, and advertise you without you having to be there.

This demonstrates yet another example of leverage – and how powerful word of mouth and the asset of an audience can be.

3) Your Audience Will Support AND Defend You

When I first started posting content in 2020, I received pretty good feedback.

I was sharing my experiences in entrepreneurship, mindset shifts that served me, and life lessons I learned along the way.

I was able to relate to a lot of people and slowly started to build a tiny audience online.

Then one day, I decided to share my story of making my first $20k/month.

It briefly talked about what I did, how I did it, and how I want to test my new system with a small group of people to see if it will work for them.

I queued up the post at 8AM and then went about my day. I checked back later at around noon to see that this post blew up.

I thought "Wow, this is great!" Until I went to the comment section to see what people were saying.

Around 90% of it was all positive. People were congratulating me, calling me an inspiration, and many were interested in joining my new beta program.

But then, there were the 10% of the comments that were hating on me.

They were calling me a "scam", an "MLM", and a fraud.

I wanted to respond and defend my name, but I had a sales call coming up and needed to focus on that. So I decided to come back to it later.

After my sales call ended, I was getting ready  to reply to the hate comments, only to find out that some of my followers and audience have already defended me on my behalf!

Some were saying how they've been following me for months now and that I wouldn't be the type of person to promote a scam or MLM.

Others were saying that if you read any of my old content, you would see that I am not a fraud and I actually know what I am talking about.

Even my clients went on to defend me by sharing all the wins and breakthroughs they had while working with me.

It was amazing to see that my followers were defending me without me even having to be there.

And goes to show the power of having an audience.

No one in the content game starts off with raving fans. Having haters is all part of the game.

And if you are new to social media or content marketing, you should expect to have a few hate comments here and there.

But regardless of the hate, remember that you are creating content for the 90%, not the 10%.

And as you continue to nurture and provide value to that 90% – they will defend and support you against the 10% without you needing to be there.

4) Your Audience Gives You Data

Data is everything. The only way you can build a long-term, peaceful, and sustainable business is if you get used to making decisions based on data.

And there is no better data than direct feedback from your audience.

With an audience: you can

  • Test out new content ideas, hooks, and stories to see what sticks best.
  • Look back on old posts you did and see which ones got the most engagement (so you can produce more of those)
  • Survey your audience directly and see what new products you should create or what you should name your new podcast or course.

Your audience gives you direct data that you can use to make better strategic decisions to grow your brand, improve your content, and create better products and services.

5) Your Audience Accelerates The Growth of Your Brand

Picture this:

You are scrolling through the social media of your choice (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Twitter) and see a content piece from someone you never heard before.

It resonates with you. You either find it valuable or entertaining and you decide to check out their profile.

What would be the first thing you look at when you visit their profile?

Chances are, your eyes will immediately go to how many followers or subscribers they have.

And based on that number, you will make a quick second decision to either trust them more or less based on that number.

The higher the number, the more likely you will trust and follow them.

The lower the number, the less likely you will.

As humans, we are all innately drawn to status – and having a social following and audience is a form of status.

While the size and number of your audience don't correlate to how good you are or the amount of money you can make –  it does play a part in whether first-time visitors perceive you and your brand.

First impressions are everything, and if you have an audience and following, it makes it easier for new people to trust and follow you because they see other people already trust and follow you.

This doesn't mean that if you don't have an audience, you are doomed from making sales.

In fact, a majority of my clients start off with little to no following. Even I only had about 300 followers at the time when I started posting online.

But it's good to see the long-term game of this.
